The Productive Use of Energy (PUE) Roadmap was officially launched on 10 November 2025 at the GIZ Malawi Cluster Office in Lilongwe, as part of the EU Green Diplomacy Week celebrations. The Renewable Energy Industries Association of Malawi (REIAMA) was represented at the event by its officers, lydia ngoleka and Charles Dakalira.
This roadmap is a living document that represents a significant milestone in advancing Malawi’s clean energy transition.
During the launch, the EU Ambassador to Malawi, H.E. Daniel Aristi-Gaztelumendi, underscored that renewable energy continues to be a cornerstone of economic growth, energy security, and environmental sustainability in Malawi.

Meanwhile, Andreas Hartmann, Head of Cooperation at the German Embassy, highlighted that the roadmap will be instrumental in helping the Government of Malawi achieve its ambitious goal of connecting 70% of the population to energy by 2030. He reaffirmed the shared commitment of partners through EnDev and the PUE initiative to empower Malawians with clean, reliable, and innovative energy solutions.
The EU Green Diplomacy Week is a global campaign promoting climate action, sustainable development, and partnerships for a green transition and Malawi is proudly part of this journey.
