2026 MALAWI NATIONAL ENERGY CONFERENCE

Energy remains one of the biggest drivers of economic growth and social development. Yet in Malawi, where electricity access is still estimated at around 25%, many sectors continue to face challenges caused by unreliable and limited energy access.

From hospitals and schools to farms, tourism facilities, mining operations, and manufacturing industries, energy is essential for productivity, service delivery, innovation, and investment. Recognising this, the upcoming will focus on positioning energy as a cross-cutting enabler for national development.

Held under the theme  “Powering Growth: Mainstreaming Energy Across Sectors”  the conference aims to bring together stakeholders from across government, the private sector, development partners, academia, civil society, and industry.

Since 2022, Malawi’s National Energy Conferences have progressively shaped dialogue around sustainable development, energy diversification, productive use of energy, and financing for energy security. The 2026 edition builds on this momentum by focusing on integrated energy planning across multiple sectors.

The conference will be structured around four key pillars:

• Multi-sectoral energy policy mainstreaming and regulation
• Energy for social services, including health and education
• Commercial and industrial-scale energy for agriculture, tourism, mining, manufacturing, and transport
• Finance, business models, and climate resilience

Participation fees:

• Early bird (Members only): MK700,000 (Register by August 31, 2026)
• Regular (Members): MK900,000
• Regular (Non-member): MK1,200,000
• International delegates: $500
• Online participation: $200
• Exhibition: MK1,500,000
  • Includes one booth, one table, two chairs, three lunch meals for two people, and five refreshments per booth member.

Participants can expect plenary sessions, expert panel discussions, technical presentations, exhibitions, networking opportunities, and investment-focused engagements designed to encourage collaboration and unlock practical energy solutions.

The event will also showcase innovative technologies, sector-specific energy applications, and financing opportunities aimed at accelerating sustainable energy access and economic transformation across Malawi.

It will take place from  30 September to 2 October 2026 at the Livingstonia International Conference Centre located at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach Hotel. The conference will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both physical and online participation.
